Paper Folders
Folding brochures, newsletters and bulletins is easy work with an automatic paper folder. Choose from affordable tabletop friction feed to productive floor model air-suction feed paper folders.
When folding some digitally printed stock it may be necessary to crease prior to folding to eliminate image cracking. Choose an air-suction feed creaser-folder to crease and fold heavy weight stocks up to 150 lb. cover in one pass without sheet marking or cracking at the fold.
Air-Suction Feed
Choose air-suction feed paper folders when:
- Folding larger quantities. An air-suction feed paper folder can produce up to 30,000 letter folds per hour
- Folding duplexed (2 sided copy). The paper pile is air-blast separated while a single sheet is picked up by air-suction. This feeding method eliminates the "scuff marks" that can result when using a friction feed folder.
- Folding coated or glossy paper stock. A friction feed folder's rubber feed tire can slip on the slick surface of some coated stocks. An air-suction feed folder grips the coated sheet with air-suction.
Friction Feed
Choose friction-feed paper folders when:
- Folding smaller quantities from a few hundred to a few thousand folds at a time.
- Folding uncoated or non-glossy paper. Although a friction feed folder can handle most coated papers you may have difficulty with consistent
- feeding of some coated papers or not be able to feed them at all. When folding coated or glossy paper stock, a friction feed folder's rubber feed tire can slip on the slick surface of some coated stocks.
- When sheet marking is not a problem. The rubber feed tire of a friction feed folder can mark the printed sheet by tracking ink or creating "scuff marks".
Crease & Fold
Choose a creaser-folder when:
Folding digitally imaged documents or heavy weight stocks to eliminate ugly toner cracking when folding; by creasing, then folding. Impact creasing utilizes a blade rule and matrix to compress the fibers of the paper as well as the toner image to eliminate cracking.
